"Title card reading \"What Reddit did for ReviewMix: nothing measurable\""
In short

"Reddit did not produce measurable referral traffic for ReviewMix. My reading is that search is a better match for where its likely buyers look for help."

Reddit did nothing measurable for ReviewMix. Google Analytics recorded no sessions referred by Reddit between 1 August and 26 October 2026; it only counts visitors who accept the cookie banner, so that is a floor rather than a full count.

Does Reddit for SaaS marketing work for a small B2B tool?

Reddit did not move the needle for ReviewMix. That is the result in my words, based on the referral data I could measure rather than on a theory about what Reddit should do for founders.

The conclusion is narrow on purpose. Someone could have visited reviewmix.eu from Reddit and declined analytics cookies, which leaves the visit outside the report, so what I can say is that I measured no Reddit referrals, not that there were no visits of any kind.

How I used Reddit for ReviewMix

My Reddit activity for ReviewMix started from my personal founder account in September 2026. ReviewMix has no brand account there, and the approach remained manual and conversational.

I followed a few rules:

  • Read the post and its author before doing anything.
  • Leave potential competitors alone, with no reply and no direct message.
  • Where a community allowed it, start a new discussion by asking for genuine technical, strategy or architecture advice.
  • In existing discussions, teach rather than pitch.
  • Separately, look for agencies and small businesses, ideally in the EU.

The distinction between asking and pitching mattered to me. I built ReviewMix without being a developer, which I have written about in how a marketer built a SaaS without coding, so genuine questions about technical and strategic choices were not a disguise.

I also looked at a paid tool that sends automated Reddit direct messages. I declined it because automated DMs are what gets founder accounts banned. A slower manual approach fitted the conversations I was willing to have.

What Reddit brought back

Reddit brought back no referral sessions that Google Analytics could record during the stated period. That result sits alongside 39 total sessions recorded on reviewmix.eu between 1 August and 26 October 2026, with both figures limited to visitors who accepted the cookie banner.

The data does not tell me that every conversation was worthless. It tells me that I cannot connect the Reddit activity to measurable website traffic in that report. Anything stronger would go beyond the evidence I have.

My account also does not support a claim about leads, sign-ups or customers from Reddit. The measurable statement is the referral result, and I prefer keeping it that plain.

Why I think Reddit did not move the needle

My reading is that owners of local businesses and the agencies running their websites are not looking for review tools on Reddit. I think advice discussions earn goodwill and karma rather than customers for a tool like ReviewMix.

My reading is also that a tool whose buyer is a café owner or a small agency is found where that buyer searches for the problem. That is an opinion about buyer behaviour, not a finding produced by the analytics report.

The mismatch matters more to me than the amount of effort involved. I could spend more time answering discussions, but more activity would not prove that the audience is looking for this category there. My earlier account of finding the first SaaS customer describes the broader problem from another angle.

My opinion is that Reddit remains useful for asking other founders for technical and strategy advice. That was the purpose of the advice discussions, and I still see value in using them that way.

Where the effort goes instead

ReviewMix's marketing effort now goes towards search ads and articles. The search ads have been running since 15 October 2026, while the articles answer questions that local businesses and agencies type into a search engine or an AI assistant.

My reasoning is practical. I think search puts ReviewMix closer to a buyer who is already trying to solve the relevant problem. The blog can answer that problem in plain language before asking the visitor to consider the product.

ReviewMix also has a Free plan for trying the product. It costs €0, needs no card, and covers one Google business and one website, so a visitor can try ReviewMix for real.

Reddit may still inform how I think about technical and strategic choices. For customer acquisition, however, I am putting the effort where my reading says the buyer is more likely to search.
